The City of Waterloo is conducting a Public Information Meeting to discuss the status of the University Avenue Project and to present the preliminary design for improvements that are being considered. This project extends from Midway Drive to U.S. 63 in Waterloo, Iowa.
All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting and express their opinions regarding the proposed project. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. with a brief presentation by Larry Wiele, with AECOM, at 5:30 p.m. Representatives from the City’s Engineering and Community Planning & Development Departments will be present at the meeting to assist with questions or concerns.
The meeting space is accessible for persons with disabilities. However, if you

University Avenue Reconstruction Project
The City of Waterloo and the contractor continue to work on the reconstruction of the University Avenue Reconstruction Project Phase 1 from Greenhill Road to Evergreen Avenue.

University Avenue will remain open to traffic. The week of August 13th the traffic will remain the same. University Avenue traffic will remain head-to-head on the westbound lanes. Falls Avenue is open south of University Avenue and Sager Avenue is closed south of University Avenue. The Ansborough Avenue traffic is head-to-head traffic in the southbound lanes. Dundee Avenue is closed south of University Avenue. The University Avenue Frontage Road Intersection near Casey’s will remain open with head-to-head traffic on the west side. Please see the attached map showing the construction zone highlighted.
The contractor will continue the reconstruction of the University Avenue eastbound lanes and traffic will remain head-to head on to the westbound lanes of University Avenue from Hackett Road to Magnolia Parkway. The lane closures will be in effect for approximately three to four months, depending on the weather. During this time, University Avenue will remain open and access to the frontage roads will remain.
For safety purposes, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed lanes. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.
