Ron Welper
Ron Welper has lived in Waterloo since 1970 after finishing a tour of duty in Vietnam with the US Navy. He and his wife Sharon have two grown children. He was a barber stylist in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area until 1986. After retiring from his career as a barber he worked for Curbmaster. For the past 27 years, Ron has been in the home improvement business.
Ron became a community activist in the early 1990’s, battling street gangs and graffiti. He organized his neighborhood and formed the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Neighborhood Association. It was from that success that he was elected in 2001 as Ward 5 representative. He has been re-elected since and is currently serving his 4th term as Ward 5 councilman. He also serves on 15 various committees throughout the community.
Ron has always taken his role as elected official very seriously. He is dedicated to economic development, quality of life issues and public safety.
