Waterloo Flood Updates

September 24, 2016 Flood Press Release

Sandbaggers are needed in the City of Waterloo. Volunteers may call 2-1-1 from a landline to get further information/direction. To call and volunteer from a cell phone please call 1-866-469-2211 or 319-739-4211.

The following bridges are closed and will remain closed at least through Monday:

  • East 6th and West 6th Railroad Bridge
  • 11th Street Bridge
  • Park Avenue Bridge
  • Westfield Avenue Bridge
  • 18th Avenue Bridge

Citizens whose properties are located in a floodplain area are encouraged to take precaution. Sand bags are available in moderation at the Public Works Building located at 625 Glenwood Avenue and at the DOT location on Ridgeway Avenue.

If you have emergency sewer related questions/concerns please call 319-291-4553. For emergency street closure or sandbagging related questions/concerns please call 319-291-4267. Please only call if assistance is needed as these phone lines may become full.

October 21, 2015 Rental unit registrations for the license period of January 1 to December 31, 2016 are due by November 1, 2015. The fee for registration is $25.00 per rental unit. The fee will double to $50.00 per rental unit on January 1, 2016 for failure to timely register. To make the process more convenient for you, we have new methods for registering and paying online by check, cash, or credit card. Please see the links below for more information on how to register and pay online. Paper forms can be picked up at the City Clerk’s office on the first floor of City Hall or on the forms page of the website.
