Welcome to the City of Waterloo, Contract Compliance Web Page.
As technology continues to play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of many businesses, our office has developed this site to meet the growing needs of the business community. This site contains information on eligibility requirements and how to apply for certification as a minority, female or small business . The City of Waterloo is committed to business development, equal access, fair competition, and unlimited opportunity for ALL businesses.
The mission of the City of Waterloo and the Community Development Office is to implement a race and gender neutral program that will encourage opportunities for the growth of viable small business concerns, thus increasing competitiveness in City of Waterloo contracts and purchases. This program supports the creation of policies, procedures and programs that promote fairness.
This focus allows the City to utilize a large array of initiatives to increase opportunities for minority, female and small business enterprises and to continue race and gender neutral efforts such as conducting outreach to small businesses and encouraging outreach by large contractors; the reduction of unnecessarily restrictive contract specifications; the breaking down of large contracts in several smaller ones, where possible; ensuring prompt payment to vendors, contractors, and subcontractors; and providing technical assistance to small businesses.
Although we are focusing on the race and gender neutral program, we continue to monitor, track and report City Minority and Female Business Enterprise participation as well as compliance with State and Federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise/Minority Business Enterprise/Female Business Enterprise regulations.
I encourage all interested businesses to utilize our services. If we can be of assistance, please contact us.
