Mayor Quentin Hart appointed Iowa Workforce Development Board

Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart has been appointed to the Iowa Workforce Development Board by Governor Kim Reynolds. His term began on November 9, 2017 and runs through the end of April 2019.
The Workforce Development Board seeks to address key strategic challenges facing employers including:
Skills gap between the skills of the existing workforce and available jobs
Availability of qualified workers
Soft skills of workers (communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, good work habits, etc.)
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Waterloo’s unemployment rate as of September is 3.7% just .5 of a percentage point above the State rate, and below the national rate of 4.2%.
