Waterloo River Lights Experience
Waterloo River Lights Experience
Waterloo’s River Light Experience is the a spectacle of animated light and color, the center pieces of Waterloo’s Veterans Way in the heart of downtown.
The Waterloo River Lights Experience is a public art installation bringing life to the Cedar River every night through a series of 30 minute light shows on the 4th Street Bridge and cascading water. The light show is cast from three decorative towers on each side of the river, projected onto the effervescing cascades of the river and linked with lights chasing through the canopy of the Pedestrian Bridge. The spectacle symbolically unites the two sides of the river.
Located in the heart of Downtown Waterloo, the display serves as an economic development engine, a source of community advancement & pride, a tool for visitor attraction, and a destination for recreational, artistic, and entertainment delight. The lighting pieces will be thematically colored to correspond with holidays and events. It is a peaceful, rich visual experience no matter the date or event. At the top of each hour begins a Flag Colors Celebration in honor of our Veterans. It is the only display of its kind in the state of Iowa.
Lights will come on a half hour before dark and remain on until mid-night. At the top of each hour the lights will display red, white, and blue in honor of Veterans and the military community.
